The wait is over! After 14 years, the official American Thoracic Society (ATS)/European Respiratory Society (ERS) technical statement, 'Standardization of Spirometry 2019 Update', was published this week.
The 2019 guidelines include several key updates from the 2005 guidelines, including (but not limited to) updating of the acceptability and repeatability criteria along with a dedicated quality grading system. Please see attached a copy of the new guidelines for your perusal.
The 2019 guidelines were developed by an international joint task force which included some of our very talented Australian and New Zealand scientists.
