Hello Visitor,
Thank you to everyone who logged into the branch meeting last Wednesday. Due to COVID restrictions the meeting was once again presented successfully online. Hopefully those that attended self-catered with their pizza and favourite beverage whilst enjoying the presentations from home! For members who were unable to attend, the recording from the meeting can be found on the Website portal.
A big thanks to our guest speakers, Dr Matthew Wong from The Queensland Children’s Hospital and Attaul Waris from the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Dr Matthew Wong presented “Emerging Lung Function tests in Cystic Fibrosis” which was an informative discussion and review of studies utilising Oscillation Techniques in measuring the lung function of paediatric Cystic Fibrosis patients.
Attaul Waris stepped up to share the knowledge he acquired from his self-directed research of “Lung Mechanics”. The presentation was a great refresher of one of the fundamental components in our field.
The branch news highlights from the evening included a reminder to check out the recently added Case of the Month that was kindly submitted from Greenslopes Hospital. Also, a reminder to register for the upcoming virtual ERS conference. Please see the slides attached for the branch news and each of the presentations.
As this meeting ended, so has Rachel Price’s term as Chair of the Queensland branch. Rachel has been resilient in ensuring our branch meetings continue throughout the rigours of COVID and committed to encouraging networking within our branch with the inaugural trivia night. Her efforts are applauded, thank you Rachel! Margy Britton will now step up to chair and will be supported by Christopher Lawrence as vice chair.
Our next meeting is September 17th. Please mark the date in your calendars for the Trivia night to be held at the Fox Hotel, official invitation will be sent out shortly. We look forward to seeing you there!
