Krystal Fordyce
I am a current Senior Respiratory Scientist working for Darling Downs Health to develop a new Respiratory Function Testing service for Toowoomba Hospital.
My pathway into Clinical Measurements wasn’t exactly the conventional route. I completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at QUT in 2014 where I pursued roles in Microbiology – Working in both pathology and research before I discovered that I wanted to explore a role that involved more direct patient care. After a few friendly suggestions I decided to complete a Graduate Diploma of Clinical Physiology at Griffith University. Since graduating in November 2018, I have worked in several independent and multi-unit laboratories across Queensland Health including The Prince Charles Hospital, Redcliffe Hospital, Sunshine Coast University Hospital and now Toowoomba Hospital.
Once in the working environment, I continued further study in the Respiratory field and I later attained my CRFS in October 2020 after an earlier exam cancellation due to COVID.
Throughout my career I have always pursued and accepted roles that would probably be considered beyond my level of experience for two key reasons – Firstly, to appreciate the work involved to develop professionally within the discipline. Secondly, because I love a challenge!
I hope that in pursuing the role of Vice Chair that it will allow for more engagement amongst fellow ANZSRS members and possibly highlight support in regional areas to maintain communication with the state-wide Respiratory network.
Penny Jell
My name is Penny Jell. I am applying for the Vice-chair position of the QLD region as I have enjoyed being a member of ANZSRS, participating in various meetings and social events for several years, and I would love the opportunity to be further involved in the organisation.
I have been a full time Respiratory Scientist for 7 years at Logan hospital, including acting director of the laboratory for 9 months. My current role includes laboratory operational management and student placement facilitation. I have a passion for organisation, team-work and positive workplace cultivation and regularly coordinate work related social functions. Some of these include the Respiratory Department annual Christmas breakfast and special event morning teas.
I would value the opportunity to combine my experience in respiratory science with my commitment to ANZSRS and passion for social events by committing to the role of vice-chair and supporting the current chair with organisation and running of branch events and correspondence.
Thank you for taking the time to read this expression of interest and considering my application.
