Hello Visitor,
I hope you all had a great Easter. A few things to cover in this email so please excuse its length!
Firstly, thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a vote in the recent Vice-Chair election. Penny Jell received the most votes and will therefore take on the position of Queensland Vice-Chair, effective immediately. Congratulations Penny, I look forward to working with you!
Our first Queensland branch meeting for 2022 took place on Wednesday, March 9 and was held virtually over Zoom. A big thank you to Christine Woods from Rockhampton Hospital who delivered an interesting and well researched scientist presentation titled ‘Tracheal Webbing – A Case Study’. Christine has kindly provided a copy of her slides which I have attached to this email. Attual Warris from the Princess Alexandra Hospital played a recording of his ASM presentation and practiced answering questions. We finished the meeting with some branch news which can be viewed in the attached slides.
I’m sure all those who attended this year’s ASM would agree it was a well organised and interesting few days. Congratulations to all Queensland members who delivered a poster or oral presentation, especially Tamara Blake who was awarded best oral presentation.
Our next branch meeting for this year is fast approaching. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 11 at 5:30pm. This meeting will be held back at our usual spot in Queensland Children’s Hospital (6A Outpatient’s Department Meeting Room, Level 6). Dr. John Mackintosh from The Prince Charles Hospital will be giving a presentation and the scientist presentation will be delivered by Cairns Hospital. I will arrange a Zoom link for those who can’t make it in person.
Look forward to seeing everyone (either virtually or in person) then.
Best wishes,
Christopher Lawrence
Queensland Regional Chair
